The October Instagram challenge for papercut artists!

List of daily themes once again courtesy of GAP member Eva Ryan, who has done this for the past 5 years — Here’s what she says:

“Every year in October I make a prompt list for myself to get my butt in the studio and make some art. Over the years I’ve made the best of friends as people have decided to work on the prompts alongside me. I’ve met the coolest artists from all over the world and every year I feel a sense of community & excitement for the work. Making art can be a very solitary thing, so being able to make art with other people, receive encouragement & give encouragement is a big deal.

The list features one prompt for every day. If you are a paper artist, you can cut the prompt out of paper, but if you are another type of artist, you can use it to get creative with whatever your medium is! If you tag me in the post or hashtag #Cutober I will repost your work in my stories if I see it!

*Spoiler alert* I’ve never been able to do every prompt on the list and I’ve been doing this for the last five years 🤣😂 Maybe this year will be my year, 🤞🏽 but also I will only do what my body allows. 🌻 Chose the prompts that speak to you & make some art!

I always learn something about my art process, what I like & what I want to keep doing. Happy accidents happen & those get incorporated into the larger work. I guess that’s why things like this are important for an artist to do. When you make work, even in small doses, it allows you to see your style evolve, see what keeps coming through to the surface. Maybe you find what you like to draw, what really lights you up, and what you want to keep seeing in your art.

If you’d like to join, please do! You can drop a note below saying you’d like to participate and that will help me keep an eye out for your work this year! 💓
