Workshop: “Black & White Is a Lie! Papercut Cityscapes” with Rosa Leff
21 March 2021 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm UTC+0
We all know that an old photo or an old movie is really black, white and grey all over! In this workshop you’ll learn to go from a color photo, to black and white, and finally to a high impact cut that is truly black and white. (Or really any two colors you’d like!). We’ll also discuss when and how to reverse the positive and negative in a photo in order to capture all the nitty gritty details of a complex cityscape.
You’ll be asked to print an 8×10″ photo before class (on regular, plain ol’ printer paper) and come prepared with tape (scotch, painter’s, washi- whatever you’ve got), a ruler, a pencil, your favorite knife and paper. Rosa recommends a Fiskars Fingertip Craft Knife, Excel #11 Blades, and Canson Mi-Teintes paper. She is also a strong advocate for making do! So if you’ve got other supplies you’d like to swap in just send her an email at rosaleff@gmail.com to make sure they’ll work.
