Story of the GAP Logo

Guild of American Papercutters official logo; design by Blanche Turner, Calligraphy by Karen Schloss

The official Guild logo was designed in 1998 by Blanche Turner, with calligraphy by Karen Schloss. The following statement describing the intended use of the logo by members, written by Dick and Sukey Harris, was published in First Cut, 1998 (Winter), vol. 11, no. 1, p. 14 (minor typo corrected):

The GAP logo may be used by all members. The Guild encourages all members to use the stickers on their artwork and to employ the logo design on their advertisements, cards, etc., whenever and wherever possible. There are two stipulations: The member must be in good standing, with dues paid for the current year while the design is used. The use of the logo may not be continued if membership in the Guild is allowed to lapse. The logo design must be used exactly. A photocopy of a sticker or of the logo on a newsletter is acceptable. Hand drawn representations are not acceptable. The word “Member” may be printed above or below the logo if desired.

Members Option: GAP Stickers

Members can purchase stickers here, 50 for $5 (minimum order), plus $1 shipping.
