Save the date! Filmmaker and interdisciplinary artist Iso Setel (https://isosetel.com, on Instagram @setelmakes; email: email@example.com) will be offering an introduction over Zoom to some of the rich history and present of Jewish papercutting.
Papercutting is an ancient art dating back to the creation of paper during the 1st century in China. In this course, we will create papercut decorations for the fall considering the wide range of fall holiday traditions- including Halloween and Día de Los Muertos- that incorporate cut paper to play with shadow and light.
Eddie will teach you how to make transformative, slowly expanding and metamorphosing paper folding and cutting patterns that you can use to tell your own (or an already favorite) story, for an audience large or small, of adults or children. Attendees will learn various paper folding techniques, and how to make and tell a paper magic story.
In this relaxing, creative, meditative and quite fun workshop by Mindy Shapiro, you will learn 4-6 basic Zentangle patterns. Each structured pattern will be broken down into small steps and what results are beautiful, creative and unique images; you will then transfer the design onto another piece
of paper and learn how to translate those tangles into a papercut design.
Create your own 6″x6″ paper sculpture landscape. In this workshop you will use a craft knife with #11 blades to cut out the provided paper pattern, then shape and glue the pieces together to create your sculpture. Artist Tiffany Budzisz will walk you through all the steps to cut out, sculpt, and assemble your landscape. No drawing skills are necessary!
