Born in Hamburg, Germany. Graduated with Master’s Degree in Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communication / Photography at the HFBK - University of Fine Arts of Hamburg, and a Master’s Degree in Art Education at the University of Hamburg.
Developed cooperative art concepts and participated in artists exchange programs in France, Salzburg, Turkey and Brazil, where he taught experimental drawings at summer programs.
Set designed original plays for theaters in Hamburg & Berlin.
Since 1994 he has been participating at the San Francisco Open Studios. He has been selected for many art shows with his intriguing and detailed paper cuttings.
Since 1999 he works as Art Director at the Tenderloin Clubhouse of the Boys & Girls Club of San Francisco with his comprehensive art program, offering fine arts, photography, video, theater and dance.
For the last decade he was a member on the Board of Directors of ArtSpan, the producer of San Francisco Open Studios, and chairman of the Open Studio Committee, a forum for artists to organize the event and produce the guide. He still is an active member of Art for City Youth, organizing an art literacy program, art workshops, museum tours and other activities intended to connect underserved inner-city youth with the local art community.
In 2003 he was recognized with the Annual Childcare Provider Award of California presented by State Senator Jackie Speier for his commitment on mentoring & inspiring the children living in the Tenderloin area through art.
2015 & 2018 was honored by the Wildflowers Institute with the Hidden Gem Award I + II recognizing his talent and involvement in the multi-cultural fabric of his neighborhood.
