Announcement from Randall Williams, GAP President
I am excited to announce the call for entry for GAP’s latest major papercutting exhibition scheduled for June 1 through July 21 at View Arts Center in Old Forge, NY.
The setting in the Adirondack region of New York state and the exhibit theme of “Paper Trails” evokes the many hiking trails found in this area and all the natural beauty and wildlife there to discover.
Historically, the art of papercutting followed diverse trails through many countries, so we also hope to present numerous examples of different traditions in the exhibit. It will be the first of its kind at View’s beautiful venue, so we want to put on an impressive show. Note that GAP members receive a discount.

RECEPTION, DEMONSTRATIONS, and ACCOMMODATIONS
A reception for participating artists will be held at View on Friday evening, June 7th, and we welcome volunteers to demonstrate their papercutting skills during this time.
A block of rooms has been set aside for GAP members at the Water’s Edge Inn in Old Forge for those interested in attending the exhibit and perhaps spending some additional vacation time in the Adirondacks.
If you are interested in demonstrating, desire more information on accommodations or the exhibit, or would like to try to coordinate travel arrangements with other GAP members, drop an email to exhibitions@papercutters.org.
WORKSHOP OPPORTUNITY
View is also interested in offering a separate papercutting workshop and would welcome proposals, including requested fee from interested GAP members. Such a workshop could take place Friday, Saturday, or even Monday of the following week. If you are interested in providing a workshop, you may contact Kelsey Mayo, Exhibitions Manager, at 315-369-6411, ext. 206.
I encourage you to take advantage of the hard work the Exhibition Committee has done to organize this event and to submit up to three pieces for consideration by the juror for this exhibit, GAP member and Board Member emeritus, Melanie Kehoss.
A special “thank you” to David Reichard for leading the organizational effort for this exhibition.
